Pep Comics #48 (MLJ, 1944) CGC GD+ 2.5 Slightly brittle pages. This terrific cover, from the brief era when Archie shared cover billing with MLJ's top superhero, the Shield, also features Betty and Veronica. The cover and the Archie story have art by Harry Sahle. This issue also saw the debut of the regular Black Hood feature. Heritage last offered a copy ten years ago. CGC notes, "Cover detached." Overstreet 2014 GD 2.0 value = $142. CGC census 2/15: 2 in 2.5, 5 higher. From the Prospect Mountain Collection.
