Description

Frank Brunner Stormbringer: The World of Elric "In The Forest of Troos" Painting Original Art (Schanes and Schanes, 1982). Frank Brunner was, along with his contemporaries, Bernie Wrightson, Jeff Jones and Barry Windsor-Smith, key to the Fantasy Art renaissance of the 1970s and '80s, and also did classic work for Warren before returning to Marvel for his historic, landmark run on Dr. Strange. As one of the period's top fantasy artists, Brunner also branched out into fully painted illustrations for book covers, posters, and limited edition art portfolios, including work devoted to Michael Moorcock's most celebrated creation, the albino, "Stormbringer" sword-wielding warrior, Elric of Melniboné. "Elric in the Forest of Troos" was originally published in the Frank Brunner limited edition, signed, and numbered portfolio, Stormbringer: The World of Elric. This lush 22" x 28" oil on masonite (25" x 31" with Brunner's own original frame) painting of Eric facing a giant Troo in a swampy forest is an absolute classic! It's been signed by Brunner in the lower left image area and is in Excellent condition. From the Collection of J. David Spurlock.
