Description

Trader Mickey Pair of Original Mickey Mouse and Native Chief Production Drawings (Walt Disney, 1932). This fantastic pair of original animation drawings comes from Trader Mickey (1932), a black-and-white Disney short directed by Burt Gillett. In this early adventure, Mickey and Pluto find themselves stranded and surrounded by a native tribe of cannibals. As an instrument trader, Mickey cleverly uses his supply of musical instruments to entertain and distract the tribe, leading to a chaotic but successful escape. These drawings feature the tribal chief, seen reading a copy of Ballyhoo, a nod to the humor of the era, and Mickey in action. The chief, who takes a special liking to the instruments, adds to the short's playful yet exaggerated depiction of the scenario. These graphite and color pencil drawings can be found near 1:31 (Chief) and 4:31 (Mickey's scene). Illustrated by future Disney Legends Les Clark, Norm Ferguson, Clyde Geronimi, and David Hand, these full-figure images measure approximately 2.5" x 3.75" and 3.75" x 4.75", with additional production note, "Hold" on Mickey's page. Exhibiting edge and handling wear with age-related toning, they remain in vintage Good condition-a wonderful find for collectors of classic Disney animation art!
