Description

Detective Comics #225 (DC, 1955) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Cream to off-white pages. Although Showcase #4 is generally credited with kicking off the Silver Age, this issue featuring the origin and first appearance of J'onn J'onzz, preceded it by nearly one full year and can arguably claim to be the first Silver Age comic. It's a tough find in high grade -- CGC has certified just two copies nicer than VF 8.0 to date. For consistency sake, we include any comic issued before 1956 in our Golden Age section, in case you were wondering! Win Mortimer did the cover, and another longtime Batman artist, Sheldon Moldoff contributed story art. Overstreet 2011 FN 6.0 value = $1,230; VF 8.0 value = $3,700. CGC census 2/12: 10 in 7.0, 11 higher.
