Description
Hero for Hire #1 Signature Series: Stan Lee (Marvel, 1972) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages. The only Signature Series 9.8 copy signed by Stan Lee as of this writing! The issue is a must-have given that it features the origin and first appearance of one of Marvel's earliest Black superheroes, Luke Cage, as well as the first appearance of his nemesis, Diamondback (Willis Stryker). The cover is by John Romita Sr. and George Tuska, with story art by Tuska and inking assistance from Billy Graham. It is currently tied for #19 on Overstreet's list of Top 25 Bronze Age Comics. CGC notes, "Signed by Stan Lee on 1/29/12." Overstreet 2024 NM- 9.2 value = $2,000.
