Description
Suspense Comics #3 (Continental Magazines, 1944) CGC FR/GD 1.5 Off-white to white pages. This issue has been the object of frenzied collector interest ever since its Alex Schomburg bondage cover was featured on the frontispiece of Gerber's Photo-Journal. Most who proceeded to hunt for the comic came up empty -- this is a Gerber "9 -- very rare," and is listed as "scarce" by Overstreet, all for good reason. And while finding one at all is tough enough, another hurdle is that many of the copies out there are incomplete, with the centerfold story "83 Days On A Life-Raft" often missing due to the unorthodox binding process used by this publisher. We breathed a hearty sigh of relief when we paged through this copy and found the "Life-Raft" story present and accounted for. The other interior story of note is a 7-pager by the highly collectible L. B. Cole. This issue is ranked among the 100 most valuable Golden Age comics by Overstreet, and its value in that venerated price guide has increased by about 25-50 percent (depending on condition, of course) over the past year alone. CGC notes, "One large piece of tape on spine of cover and one large piece of tape on spine of interior cover." Overstreet 2010 GD 2.0 value = $4,500. CGC census 10/10: 2 in 1.5, 7 higher.CGC Grader Notes:
Interior Centerfold Detached
Interior Large Sticker Attached
