Description

Detective Comics #9 (DC, 1937) CGC FN 6.0 Cream to off-white pages. Another fantastically gritty pre-Batman cover by Creig Flessel, with story art provided by him and Superman co-creator Joe Shuster, less than a year before Action Comics #1 hit the newsstands. The Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books rates this issue a "6" ("uncommon") in terms of scarcity, but it's probably rarer than that. CGC has certified only 18 copies, of which 12 are unrestored, and we've offered only six complete and unrestored copies (out of nine in total) over nearly 25 years. CGC notes, "Christine Farrell Complete DC Collection." Overstreet 2024 FN 6.0 value = $5,400. CGC census 10/24: 1 in 6.0, 3 higher. From the Christine Farrell Complete DC Collection.

CGC Grader Notes:
large, light, multiple crease right top of front cover
light stain left top of front cover
small spine split top of spine
