Superman #1 (DC, 1939) CGC Apparent FN/VF 7.0 Moderate to Extensive (B-4) Off-white pages. This major key issue, one of the five most valuable in the hobby, is almost impossible to find in unrestored form and basically unaffordable when one does come across such a copy. Consequently, a more realistic goal is a nicely restored copy with strong eye appeal, and this copy certainly fits that bill. The issue marks the first time a character created for the comics earned his own series. Joe Shuster handled all of the art chores for the book -- cover and interior art, and there's a mighty fine Superman pin-up on the back cover that was used as the image for a US postage stamp. Superman #1 is currently in the #3 position on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cleaned, interior lightened, reinforced." Overstreet 2023 GD 2.0 value = $180,000; VG 4.0 value = $360,000; FN 6.0 value = $720,000.
