Description
Action Comics #7 (DC, 1938) CGC Apparent NM+ 9.6 Extensive (A-5) Off-white to white pages. This is easily one of the nicest copies we've offered of this rare early issue, which shows up on the market less frequently than Action #1. Until now, our best offering for a restored copy was an Apparent VG/FN 5.0, which sold for $24,000 in 2024; the nicest unrestored copy we've offered to date remains the VF 8.0 that we sold in February 2008. Most recently, we sold a CGC Conserved FN 6.0 for $75,000 last year. This one sits at the top of the CGC census, with Universal grade copies topping out at VF 8.0. In other words: this just might be the best copy you'll ever get the chance to own.The vertigo-inducing cover was only the second to feature Superman, and features art by co-creator Joe Shuster. The story art is by Shuster, Fred Guardineer, and Bernard Baily. This issue is currently ranked #8 on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, reinforced, cleaned, interior lightened." Overstreet 2024 GD 2.0 value = $52,000; VG 4.0 value = $104,000; FN 6.0 value = $156,000; VF 8.0 value = $312,000; VF/NM 9.0 value = $481,000; NM- 9.2 value = $650,000.
