Description

Gil Kane and John Romita Sr. Conan the Barbarian #18 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1972). A rare chance to get Kane pencils with Romita Sr. inks! A wonderfully tense cover, it was penciled by Gil Kane with inks (and maybe some whiteout art corrections) by John Romita Sr. As per Roy Thomas in his intro to The Chronicles of Conan (Dark Horse, 2003): "Much of any individual issue's sales are due to its cover... in particular, #18, with Romita inking Kane, became easily the best selling issue for some time before or after." Produced on World Color cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The corner box and header dressing are stat paste-ups. There is a bit of paste-up masking in the lower section with glue residue over it from a missing paste-up title banner. Some production staining in the logo, and overall toning and handling wear. There is a reverse negative logo paste-up on a flip-up acetate overlay. Signed by JRSR in the lower margin. In Very Good condition.
