Description

Gene Colan and Bill Everett Tales to Astonish #86 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1966). The continual conflict between Namor and Krang is Atlantean legend. Whether it's a love triangle with Krang's would-be bride, Lady Dorma, Krang's attempted usurp of the throne of Atlantis, or his imprisonment of the Avenging Son, the hostility runs fathoms deep -- especially on this cover, as Krang sends a giant tidal wave to annihilate New York City and then makes an anonymous tip to the Army to tell them that the Sub-Mariner is the responsible party. Produced at a twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". Title logo is an after-the-fact stat paste-up. There is heavy adhesive residue around the stat and bottom right corner, adhesive residue spots in the image, whiteout in Namor's left arm into the explosion, the page is moderately toned, there are marginal notes in pencil, missing pieces along the left side, tears into the image on the left side, creasing and small tears along the borders, and soft corner bends. In Good condition.
