Description
Robotech SOLD-OUT Action Figure Group of 32 (Tatsunoko Production/Harmony Gold/Matchbox, c. 1985-92). In this lot, we have an amazing opportunity for Robotech fans! Featuring a whopping collection of 32 long-sold-out action figures, still displayed on their original backing cards, that showcase many famous characters of the cult-classic anime series. From the famed Matchbox Series 1, the 6" figures, and the 1992 Harmony Gold variation. An adaptation of Super Dimension Fortress Macross by the production company Harmony Gold, Robotech also incorporated edited content and characters from Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA. This lot also includes 3.5" figures of Rick Hunter, Lynn Minmai (Harmony Gold exclusive), Lisa Hayes (two Matchbox and one Harmony Gold), Roy Fokker (two Matchbox), Max Sterling (one Matchbox and one Harmony Gold), Miryia (two Matchbox and one Harmony Gold), a Micronized Zentraedi (one Matchbox), Dana Sterling (one Matchbox), Zor Prime (two Matchbox), Bioroid Terminator (two Matchbox), Scott Bernard (one Matchbox and one Harmony Gold), Rand (two Matchbox and one Harmony Gold), Rook Bartley (Harmony Gold version), and Corg (one Matchbox). From the 6" tall series (ranging from 5.25" to 6" tall), the lot features Breetai (two copies), Exedore, Kyron (two copies), Dolza (two copies), and the Armored Zentraedi Warrior. All these rare figures come unopened in their original packaging, with many still showing the price sticker! The packages show handling and edge wear, with the figures intact inside of them. Overall, the lot is in Good to Very Good condition. This auction lot, warehoused for decades, comes from the vast Anime Archive Collection of Al Zequeira, a pioneer in the field of Anime, who helped bring the genre from Japan to the U.S. in the 1980's and promoted it during his association with the now legendary Kimono my House and Streamline Pictures, as a graphic designer of t-shirts and cloisonne pins and as a garage kit Art Director. Mr. Zequeira went on to become a film, television, music video, and commercial prop & set dressing fabricator, on such productions as The Chronicles of Riddick, Star Trek: Voyager & Deep Space Nine, an Art Director, Production Designer in Asia, and a Walt Disney Imagineer (Tokyo DisneySea). He has since worked with such recording artists as Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry.Auction Info
