Description
Sleeping Beauty Maleficent and Diablo Matching Animation Drawing Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1959). "Come, my pet." Maleficent tells her beloved raven Diablo, reaching her arm out. Presented in this lot are two pairs of matching 16 field 3-peghole animation drawings. All are beautifully rendered in graphite and number 3, C-3, 11, and C-11. They illustrate the special bond that this villainess has with her pet and give the audience a look at the dynamic between the two characters. The scene can be found at about 1:04:05 in the film when the two visit Prince Philip's cell in the dungeon. The drawings measure about 7'' x 10.5'' 8.5'' x 10.75'' (Maleficent) and 4'' x 3'' (Diablo). Three of them have timing charts in the bottom right. The drawings exhibit light age-related toning with minor edge and handling wear. This includes light debris, reinforced pegholes, superficial wrinkles, and faint creases.
