Description

Sleeping Beauty Maleficent Animation Drawing Sequence of 4 (Walt Disney, 1959). "Oh, they're hopeless." Maleficent tells her raven, Diablo, as she approaches her throne. The four large 16 field 3-peghole animation drawings presented in this lot are masterfully rendered in graphite with color pencil. The sequence can be found at about 17:14-15 after the Mistress of Evil attacks her own henchman for their incompetence. The pages are noted as 7, 17, 25, and 43. Two of these numbers are circled, indicating they are keyframes and were likely created by supervising animator and Disney Legend Marc Davis (1913 - 2000). Maleficent ranges from about 8.75'' x 10'' to 7'' x 10.25''. There is minor edge and handling wear with light age-related toning. Reinforced pegholes, superficial wrinkles, small tears, and small stains/debris. Some water damage on the first three pages, but it is not near the image. Condition is Good overall for this wonderful vintage sequence.
