Description
Disneyland Magical Big Figurines - "The Haunted Mansion" Limited Edition 14" Big Figure (Walt Disney, 2004). "Welcome foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion." This large, limited-edition Disneyland Magical Big Figurine celebrates the romantic and foreboding estate of the world-famous retirement home ghosts, that is the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park! The charming exterior of the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square was loosely inspired by a true-life haunt, the Shipley Lydecker House in Baltimore, Maryland, and stood along the Rivers of America for six years before its grand opening. A few decades later in 1989, Disney Big Figures debuted with a simple release of the "Disney Standard Characters" Mickey, Donald Duck, Pluto and Goofy. However, Disney retail branches expanded the collection to include exclusive and limited-edition figure releases based on popular feature films, issued through The Disney Store, The Disney Catalog, and Disney Parks. Designed by the illustrious Larry Nikolai, "The Haunted Mansion" Disneyland Magical Big Figurine celebrates the stately architectural façade of the supernatural adventure, with an intricate sculpt featuring a delicately applied color palette, ornate "wrought iron" railing and ornaments, and a removable cupola with sailing ship weathervane. The figure is brought to life with spooky sound effects and illuminating windows activated by the touch of the gravestones in the cemetery (requiring 3 AA batteries; not included). This piece was released in a limited edition exclusively through Disneyland Park, "retired" and has long since been sold-out and sought after by collectors. This rare early Big Figure is comprised of a sculpted "figure" and removable weathervane measuring a complete 14" x 16" x 16". This "retired" resin Big Figure is in Fine condition, accompanied by its original packaging, instructions, and 20.5" x 19" x 20" box.
