Description

Mickey's Circus Character Study Drawing (Walt Disney, 1936). Take a look behind the scenes with a few of the many drawings it took to create a Disney animated short! The 12 field 5-peghole animation paper in this lot includes five rough full figure drawings of Mickey Mouse that are believed to have been created for the 1935 theatrical short Mickey's Circus. The short put Mickey in the role of Ringmaster with Donald performing for a tent full of orphans as his main attraction. The orphans take things into their own hands when the act isn't entertaining enough and send both of them up to the tightrope. Each drawing has poor Mickey wobbling on the tightrope to keep his balance and none include his ringmaster attire, which was added later. These rare early drawings were created vertically and measure about 9.5'' x 10.75''. There are three additional full figure vertical sketches on the back of the page that measure around 7'' x 9'' combined and are practice sketches for Mickey jumping. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and faint age-related toning.
