Description

Mickey's Parrot Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1938). "Come on out! The jig's up!" It's not every day you see such astoundingly large 1930s original animation drawing of Mickey Mouse, much less one where he's holding a shotgun! It's because Machine Gun Butch who has just escaped from prison (according to a radio bulletin), is "...in the b - b - basement!" This 1938 Ben Sharpsteen-directed short, Mickey's Parrot, painted an ominous picture with a dark and stormy night leaving Mickey and Pluto convinced that the killer is somewhere in their house. Fortunately for the duo, it turns out that Polly Parrot was just trying to seek shelter from the blustery weather. This extreme close up of a panic-stricken Mickey can be spotted near the 2:45 mark of the short just after he has made his way down to the basement in search of the alleged intruder. This incredibly unusual drawing practically fills the entire frame with an image area of 10" x 8.75". It is rendered in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field 5-peghole paper numbered 40-B in the lower right. With typical handling and edge wear including light age-related toning and superficial surface wrinkles, overall this thematically foreboding drawing is in Very Good condition.
