Description
The Pet Store Beppo Animation Drawing Sequence of 34 (Walt Disney, 1933). Beppo the gorilla is the star of the show in this massive sequence of 34 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings from the Wilfred Jackson-directed short The Pet Store. Released to theaters on 10/28/1933, the short had Mickey show Minnie around the pet store during lunch with a King Kong-style twist. Beppo the gorilla lets himself out of his cage and kidnaps Minnie, forcing Mickey to rescue her. The massive sequence of full figure graphite animation drawings in this lot were created for the sequence at about 4:56 when Beppo sneaks up on a carefree Mickey and Minnie, about to snap her up. The drawings range from about 5.5'' x 6'' to 4'' x 5'' and are all numbered in the lower right corner of the page. One drawing is noted for Scene 26 and another includes a rough sketch of how the cels would be set up. This is by far the largest sequence we've seen of the classic Disney character, and we aren't sure when we'll see one this big again. Very Good condition overall with light edge and handling wear and faint age-related toning.Auction Info
