Description

Shanghaied and Building a Building Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Pair of Animation Drawings (Walt Disney, 1933/1934). Presented in this lot is an incredible pair of 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings of Mickey and Minnie, both beautifully rendered in graphite. The drawing of Mickey is from the Burt Gillett-directed short Shanghaied that followed the mouse as he tried to rescue Minnie while defeating the dastardly pirate Pete and his crew. He can be found at about 2:31 as he desperately tries to find a weapon to fight off his age-old nemesis. Minnie, wearing her recognizable and rare flower hat, can be found at about 4:12 in Building a Building after Mickey's catapults his newly made lunch into the air. Mickey measures roughly 2.75'' x 2.75'' while Minnie measures about 2.5'' x 3.5'', the pages noted as 9 ½ and 3 in the lower right. The drawings are in Very Good condition with light age-related toning and minor edge and handling wear.
