Description

Ye Olden Days Mickey Mouse Layout Drawing (Walt Disney, 1933). "Cheer up, oh, lovely princess for you'll be rescued soon." Minstrel Mickey sings to Princess Minnie from a tree branch, gazing at her tower window. This outstanding 12 field 2-peghole layout drawing comes from the 1933 Burt Gillet-directed short Ye Olden Days. The animation is loosely based on the historical novel Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832) and follows Mickey the Minstrel as he helps rescue Princess Minnie from her arranged marriage to Dippy Dog, an earlier version of Goofy. This layout drawing was created for the scene at about 3:48 in the film when Mickey drops his lute to catch the flower Minnie tosses him. The drawing is rendered in graphite with color pencil and is labeled 26. It has an image area of around 7.5'' x 5.5'' with a color pencil border. Minor edge and handling wear with age-related toning. Faint debris and light superficial wrinkles. Good to Very Good condition overall.
