Description

The Little Mermaid Ariel Animation Drawing and Flounder Preliminary Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1989). "Betcha on land, they understand. Bet they don't reprimand their daughters. Bright young women sick of swimmin'." Ariel sighs wondering about life on the surface in this spectacular lot, showcasing two animation drawings from The Little Mermaid displaying our iconic protagonist and her friend Flounder. The animation drawing of Ariel was used to create the image appearing at the 17:17 mark of the beloved Disney Renaissance film as she performs her emblematic song "Part of Your World" and features the mermaid measuring 7.5" x 7.75" on the drawing numbered A-41 in the bottom right corner. The drawing numbered F5 in the bottom right corner appears to be a preliminary animation drawing of Flounder, similar to what shows up at the 17:56 timestamp, although with a different expression on his face, featuring a great image size of 4" x 4.5". These drawings are done in graphite and colored pencils on 16-field animation sheets, presenting reinforced pegholes. Flounder's drawing has an animation timing chart in the top right corner. Ariel's drawing shows the note "Philo" on the bottom edge, possibly from character designer Philo Barnhart. With minor handling and edge wear from production, the lot is in Very Good condition.
