Description
June Foray's Framed Photos, Certificates, and Awards Group of 23 (c. 1970s-90s). A visitor to June Foray's house during her later years would no doubt see many items hanging on the walls of her Woodland Hills home. Here is a selection of framed photos, certificates, awards, and a few pieces of art honoring the First Lady of Animation. Of the awards, one is a handsome plaque from 1989 from the League for Crippled Children (the metal portion come loose in the past and was fixed with tape, which has left residue on the wooden base; the metal has been temporarily refixed but needs professional restoration). The remaining three are framed paper awards: a 1990-91 Rocky Mountain Emmy Award for Cartoon Mania!; a "Friend of SPERDVAC" (the Society to Preserve Encourage Radio Drama Variety and Comedy) award from 1992; and a Women in Animation award from 1994. Of the six certificates, two are undated: a Resolution from the Ventura County Fair, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Local 839 (circa 1988); the others include 1986 and 1987 Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Local 839 Certificates of Appreciation (concerning the Annual Golden Awards Banquet); a 1987 certificate from the National Fantasy Fan Club for Disneyana Collectors; and a Certificate of Appreciation from the "Weekend of Animated Shorts" held in 2009 at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Three items are Academy Award related - a Lucite Triangle for the 25th Anniversary of the Student Academy Awards, 1998, and souvenir Lucite paperweights from the Oscar Awards with miniature replicas of posters for the 67th and 70th Awards Ceremonies. Four of the framed photos are of various Academy Award Governors groups, with June in each photo (plus a few stars and many we cannot identify), while one is of June sitting with three gentlemen (we believe they include Jack Mendelsohn and Bill Scott to her left and maybe that's Larry King to her right) in a theater. There are two pieces of artwork, both are oversized birthday cards with an image of Granny and Tweety in ink and color markers (the 1997 drawing also includes Sylvester and Hector from The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries). There is some water damage along the bottom of the 1998 card, in a broken 20.5" x 16.5 frame and along the right side on the second, dated 1997, matted and framed to 21" x 17". Most are framed with glass. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. Items range from Poor to Fine. From the June Foray Archives.
