Description
SpongeBob SquarePants "Sandy's Rocket" SpongeBob Production Cel Master Setup (Nickelodeon, 1999). "There's no time for that! Just push harder!" "SpongeBob, what are y'all doing?" Clad in a spacesuit and mistakenly believing he's traveled to the moon, SpongeBob is featured in this original production cel setup with Master background from the episode 8 segment "Sandy's Rocket" of Season 1. Created by marine science teacher, Stephen Hillenburg, SpongeBob SquarePants is a mega-popular Nickelodeon animated series ranks fifth in the list of longest running American animated series. It currently has 14 seasons with only the first produced using traditional cel animation. In this memorable episode, SpongeBob and Patrick sneak aboard Sandy's rocket ship at night, accidently launching it. After the craft lands back in Bikini Bottom, the pair erroneously believe they've arrived on the moon and begin capturing every "alien" they encounter with net guns. Suspiciously still thinking he's in space, SpongeBob can be spotted near the 9:41 mark of the segment as he hears Sandy demand an explanation for his delirious behavior. Hand-painted on the 12 field cel, SpongeBob's space age, full-figured image measures 5.5" x 4.75" including the net gun and is pleasingly centered in the frame with production codes found along the lower edge. The hand-painted background appears less than 30 seconds earlier, spotted near the 9:26 mark as the camera pans over nearly every citizen of Bikini Bottom ensnared in one of SpongeBob and Patrick's nets. It has been rendered in gouache on background board trimmed to approximately the same dimensions as the cel with a partial production code appearing at the lower right. Backgrounds for episode 8 were created by Peter Bennett, Michael Chen, Andy Clark, and Calvin G. Liang. With typical studio handling and wear including minor linework wear with areas of restoration, faint surface wear/debris, minor paint wear with a pinpoint spot of loss near SpongeBob's left eye, and light edge wear to the background with a vertical crease near the right edge, overall this setup is in Very Good condition.Auction Info
