Description

George of the Jungle Opening Sequence 40.5" x 10.5" Pan Production Background (Jay Ward, 1967). "George, George, George of the Jungle lives a life that's free. AHHEAHHEAHHH! Watch out for that tree!" He never does "watch out for that tree," much to our amusement! This colorful hand-painted pan background can be seen in the opening credits to the original animated series, beginning at about the 0:19 timestamp, after George rides on the back of an alligator, and ends two seconds later; he swings by with a large snake wrapped around his waist past three dark purple foreground trees. Backgrounds for the George of the Jungle were painted by Sam Clayberger, Jack Heiter, Bob McIntosh, Walt Peregoy, Gloria Wood, and Bob Inman. The art for this background is painted with gouache on a 40.5" x 10.5" artboard with top pegholes. The overall condition of this rare original is Very Good with minor handling and some edge wear, including a tiny piece out in the upper right corner that does not affect the image. C'mon, big fella, please watch out for that tree!
