Description
Rocky, Bullwinkle, Gidney, and Cloyd Scene Cel Signed by Jay Ward (Jay Ward, c. 1980s). An orange and red Bullwinkle stands with Rocky and their lunar associated Gidney and Cloyd in this original hand-inked and hand-painted Scene cel. Gidney and Cloyd, also known as The Moon Men, appeared in the very first Rocky and Friends episode "Jet Fuel Formula" in 1959. They also appeared in future episodes "Metal Munching Mice" and "Missouri Mish Mash." Most original production cels from the series were not saved; Scene Cels like this were painted at the Dudley Do-Right Emporium on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood (which operated from 1971 to 2005) and sold unsigned, but when Jay Ward (1920 - 1989) was in the shop, he would sign cels upon request as he did this great example. Most Scene Cels feature Bullwinkle's body painted in orange with red antlers, which was Jay's preference in years after the series ended. The combined image size is approximately 8.25" x 7", and the cels are placed on a sheet of gray Pantone Gradient paper. The cel is in Very Good condition with minor handling wear.More information about Jay Ward Studios. See also: Ward Studios Artist.
