Description

The Simpsons "Butterfinger Commercial" Dr. Marvin Monroe Production Cel and Drawing (Fox, 1988). From a 1988 Butterfinger television commercial, this original production cel features Springfield's psychoanalyst Dr. Marvin Monroe. The Dr. has set his sights on none other than Bart Simpson, creating a moment that encapsulates the wit and playfulness of the Saturday morning candy bar commercials. The production cel captures a snapshot of the memorable scene where Dr. Marvin Monroe engages Bart in a Rorschach test, presenting the young mischievous character with a unique twist-an inkblot that humorously resembles a butterfly. Dr. Marvin Monroe, with his distinctive scruffy beard and characteristic demeanor, is hand-painted on 12 field acetate. It's a large image that almost fills the entire matboard aperture. The cel is matted to 18" x 14" with a 9.5" x 7" opening. Included is the original graphite production drawing which is affixed to the back of the matboard. This production cel is a delightful homage to the seamless fusion of animation and advertising. Artwork is presented in Very Good condition with edge wear, tape and smudging.
