Description

The Flintstones Hoppy Model Study/Sketch of Hoppy Signed by Dick Bickenbach (Hanna-Barbera, c. 1960s/70s). A charming character model sketch of Hoppy, signed by master draftsman Dick Bickenbach, rendered in graphite on classic 12-field animation paper. The sheet presents two distinctive views of the Rubbles' beloved "hoparoo"-a kangaroo-like pet who could bound great distances and ferry Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm in his pouch. Friendly and energetic, Hoppy added a warm, playful spirit to Bedrock's suburban Stone Age life and later appeared prominently in The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show. Bickenbach's line is crisp, with confident construction and on-model proportions that showcase why his model sheets became studio standards. A golden-age veteran, Richard Frederick "Dick" Bickenbach animated at Warner Bros. for directors like Friz Freleng and Robert McKimson, shaped layouts for more than eighty Tom and Jerry shorts at MGM and was among Hanna-Barbera's earliest hires-helping define the studio's signature television style and creating the first official Yogi Bear model sheets. This original, artist-signed study of Hoppy is an excellent display piece for Flintstones and Hanna-Barbera collectors. In Good condition with light surface wear and very mild wrinkling.
