Description

Fantastic Four #48 (Marvel, 1966) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages. One of the highest-graded copies of one of Marvel's most monumental Silver Age issues, this iconic comic features the first appearances of the devourer of worlds, Galactus, and his herald who brings doom to unsuspecting planets, the Silver Surfer -- both of whom appeared in the recent Fantastic Four: First Steps film. The issue also includes appearances by the Inhumans and the Watcher, with both interior and cover art by the legendary team of Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott.
As if its historical importance weren't enough, this copy is among the finest known. Out of 10,548 certified copies currently on the CGC census, only 45 have received a NM/MT 9.8 Universal grade. It rivals, if not exceeds, many pedigree copies from esteemed collections such as Northland, Curator, White Mountain, Rocky Mountain, Suscha News, Bowling Green, and Savannah. Currently tied for #47 on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics. Overstreet 2024 NM- 9.2 value = $12,000. CGC census 8/25: 45 in 9.8, none higher.
