Description

Harry J. Tuthill The Bungle Family Daily Comic Strip Original Art Dated 1-20-42 (McNaught Syndicate, 1942). George Bungle is up to his usual numbskull tricks in this whopping-big composition from Tuthill's long-running domestic-humor feature. Mr. Bungle takes himself so seriously that he becomes a laughable character - in this instance, finding himself so impressed with an amateur detective-snoop stalker that he hires the jerk to work for him. Tuthill's understated drawing style is a perfect match for the characters' deadpan mannerisms. A classic of droll wit. Ink and Zipatone shading film over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 27" x 7". Excellent condition, with light toning.
From the Bobby G. Murphy Collection.
