Description

The Heckling Hare Bugs Bunny Color Model/Animation Drawing (Warner Brothers, 1940). This Tex Avery-directed cartoon was technically the seventh appearance of Bugs in a Merry Melodies short and his second run in with the dull-witted Willoughby the Dog. This is an original color model animation drawing of Bugs from the 1:07 mark in the short as he discovers Willoughby trying to dig him out of his rabbit hole. It's a stunning full-figure image rendered in graphite and colored pencil that measures 4" x 7" on 12 field 2-peghole paper. The image is surrounded with an array of handwritten notes on color and character design. It's a remarkable one-of-a-kind piece from an early Bugs classic directed by the man credited with his invention. The paper exhibits handling edge wear and toning. Condition is Very Good. From the Rev Chaney Archives.
