Description

All-American Comics #16 (DC, 1940) CGC Apparent VF+ 8.5 Extensive (P) Off-white pages. Shelly Moldoff renders the explosive first appearance of the Green Lantern on this cover. Note the tremendous amount of detail in the Tommy gun-toting gangster and in the Green Lantern. This historic book helped usher in the Golden Age of DC characters in the very early 1940s. Martin Nodell, the creator of the Green Lantern, got his inspiration from a switchman's light that would signal that it was okay for a train to proceed. This issue is also the origin issue of this first Green Lantern, Alan Scott. While this copy may have extensive professional restoration (including color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cleaning and reinforcing) it has tremendous eye-appeal with dark and deep rich colors. Overstreet 2002 VF 8.0 value = $57,500.
