Milton Caniff Steve Canyon Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-8-68 (Chicago Sun-Times, 1968). Milton Caniff remained loyal to his alma mater, Ohio State, often referencing it in his Steve Canyon strips as "Maumee University." In this humorous large panel, Thud Shelley, a Steve Canyon recurring character, takes center stage at the stadium after a bizarre chain of events led to an unexpected outcome. A great 'splash strip' done in ink and white paint over graphite on Bristol board with an image area measuring 21.75" x 6.75". One small text paste-up. Light handling wear and mild toning. Adhesive tape and tape residue in the lateral margins. In Excellent condition.
