Description

Frank Frazetta Johnny Comet Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-7-52 (McNaught Syndicate, 1952). This wonderful Johnny Comet Sunday is one of the last strips to bear the name Johnny Comet before its puzzling rebranding to Ace McCoy. In this later period, the strip shifted its focus from action and adventure to a more comedic tone, as seen here, where Johnny and Pop's attempt to build a barbecue leads to hilariously mixed results. Super-star artist Frank Frazetta produced this meticulous work in ink and Zipatone over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 24" x 16.25". The logo panel is a stat paste-up. A bit of Zipatone is missing from Johnny's leg in Panel 1. The toned board has edge and corner wear, with production tape on the corners. The Sunday was personalized and signed with Frazetta's distinctive signature in Panel 2, as well as being signed and dated in Panel 8. This beauty is in Very Good condition.
