Description

Will Eisner and Jerry Grandenetti The Spirit Section Story Page 5 Original Art dated 9-7-47 (Register and Tribune Syndicate, 1947). The Spirit Section was a unique hybrid, both a syndicated strip and a comic book, that ran from 1940 to 1952. The Spirit remains blind after suffering the effects of an explosion in The Spirit Section published two weeks earlier. Meanwhile, his sidekick Ebony White takes the lead in the investigation to aid the masked crimefighter, who has fallen into dangerous hands. This beautifully drawn page, rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board, shows an image area of 13" x 18". The page was published in 1947 for the story "A Killer at Large". It showcases the graphic mastery of the legendary Will Eisner, with Jerry Grandenetti providing background work. An original art paste-up correction appears in Panel 7, featuring the nefarious Mr. Bowser. Minor toning, marginal soiling, and handling/edge wear. In Very Good condition.
