Bailey's Comets Barnaby Bailey, Candy, Wheelie, and Pudge Production Cel (DePatie-Freleng, c. 1973-74). "Chasing around the world's what they're doing, racing to find the next clue." When the roller derby craze of the early 1970s was at its height, along came Bailey's Comets - a roller skating counterpart to The Wacky Races! Offered in this lot is an original production cel, possibly from the title sequence, featuring 4 of the 6 team members. This one-season series featured roller-skating teams racing in a worldwide competition to find clues that will lead to a million-dollar prize. The opposing teams often featured wacky themes like The Roller Coasters, a circus based team that included a lion; The Cosmic Rays, a team of aliens inside a skating flying saucer; and The Broomer Girls, a team of witching on roller-brooms! This cel features the Bailey's Comets team captain Barnaby Bailey along with members Candy, Wheelie, and Pudge, and is similar a sequence during the opening credits near the 0:47 mark which can be viewed online. The 12 field multilayer cel features the four full-figured characters hand-painted to a combined image area of 8" x 5" with production codes found along the lower edge of each layer. The cel has been placed on a photographic print background for display purposes. With typical handling and edge wear including minor wear to the linework with some professional restoration as well as light debris between the layers, overall the condition is Very Good.Auction Info
