Description

Dan Spiegle Space Family Robinson: Lost in Space on Space Station One #44 Story Page 21 Original Art (Gold Key, 1975). Space Family Robinson invented metafiction before there was a word for it - a science-fiction takeoff on Johann Wyss' castaway-adventure novel of 1812, Swiss Family Robinson. More widely known for its network-TV version, Lost in Space, the comics series inspired such terrific work as this page from veteran artist Spiegle and pointing toward his emergence during the 1980s as a hot property in a burgeoning independent-comics scene, including the DNAgents series from Eclipse Comics. Spiegel's high-contrast artwork sets the tone ideally for the futuristic explorers' landing on a prehistoric Planet Earth: Lost in time, as well as in space. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12" x 18". In Excellent condition.
