Description

My Little Pony: Escape from Catrina Background Color Key Paintings Group of 3 (Hasbro/Marvel, 1985). "My little pony, my little pony - how has the world been treating you?" This television special, the second special after Rescue at Midnight Castle, was originally shown before the series began; it would later be re-edited and retitled "Escape from Katrina" as the final two episodes in the 1985-87 series. Here are three exceptional hand-painted/airbrushed background Color Key paintings created during production of the special. Background artists on the special included Bob Kline, Lonnie Lloyd, Bob Smith, Martin Strudler, and Dennis Venizelos. Two of the paintings show the castle of Catrina the Feline Witch, while the third is of the blizzard Catrina conjured up in order to capture the ponies. The art is in gouache on illustration boards measuring approximately 10.5" x 8.5" for the two castle paintings (with image sizes of 7.5" x 5.5), while the blizzard art is on board measuring 11.5" x 8", with an image size of 11.5" x 7". Condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
