Description

Mother Goose Goes Hollywood Stan Laurel Caricature as Simple Simon Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1938). What do you get when you combine classic nursery rhymes with Hollywood? That's exactly what this 1938 Silly Symphony, entitled Mother Goose Goes Hollywood, aimed to show. This short takes a trip through several beloved nursery rhymes, but in this rendition, the characters are all played by the celebrities of the 1930s. In this scene from the short, Stan Laurel takes on the persona of Simple Simon. Laurel goes fishing, but instead of catching fish, he baits his hook with a fish to catch worms! This image comes from about the 3:37 mark of the short. The drawing is created with graphite and red pencil on 12 field, 5-peghole animation paper. The page has been numbered in its lower right corner with 19. This impressive image measures about 7.5" x 4.5". The drawing is in Very Good condition, with only minor handling and edge wear.
