Description

Howard Porter - Zauriel and White Martian Character Study Illustrations Original Art (undated). The premiere of Grant Morrison's JLA series in 1997 was a return to greatest for the title as Morrison infused the book with a Silver Age sensibility without the Silver Age silliness that often accompanied the Justice League of America stories during the 1960s. Howard Porter and John Dell provided the artwork for this entertaining reboot, giving them the opportunity to design and execute a spate of unique heroes and villains. Here are two characters from those early issues, the archangel Zauriel and a redesigned (and terrifying) White Martian, both of whom figure prominently in the early issues. It's unclear if these pieces were simply character studies or intended for publication elsewhere, but they are fantastic illustrations from Porter. Produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with a combined image area of area of 15" x 9". Faint toning and handling wear. In Excellent condition.
