Al Jaffee Willie Weirdie Scares the Pants off Al Jaffee Cover and Advertising Page Combining Original Art with Pre-Printed Production Materials Group of 3 (EC Publ./Warner Books, 1982). Willie Weirdie had originated as a walk-on character in Jaffee's syndicated comic strip of the early 1960s, Tall Tales. Jaffee retrieved the creepy little guy for longer-term use in his gags for MAD, and Willie Weirdie proved especially viable in the MAD-spinoff paperback books. This selection contains (1) an environmental portrait of Willie Weirdie, comprising original color paint-layers and ink retouching with a pre-printed B&W image; (2) a part-printed/part-original drawing of the character atop a printed montage of Jaffee's books; and (3) an additional printed montage of Jaffee's books. Mixed media and occasional original-art elements with collage/montage effects on backing board. Image areas, 7" x 6" to 7.5" x 12". Extensive glue-staining/bleeding on the color plate. Good condition, aggregate.
