Description
Mike Grell Jon Sable, Freelance #39 Double Splash Pages 2-3 Original Art (First, 1986). Jon Sable and Myke Blackmon are hiding in the expertly detailed underbrush and roots at the river's edge on this splash page for the story "Ivory Death". Although created in ink and graphite, the main figure and background work is all graphite on vellum, with just a bit of ink to dress it up some. Grell's pencil work was so dense and defined that they would often shoot straight from his pencils and skip the inking stage completely. It gave the book a unique look at the time. The story title is a stat paste-up on the vellum in the 14.75" x 10.5" image area. In Excellent condition.Lookup the Comic Book in our Guide
