Description

John Buscema Conan the Rogue Character Sketch Illustrations Preliminary Original Art (1991). Legendary Conan artist John Buscema was known for sketching warm-ups on the backs of his original art pages. This page features his exploratory pencil and ink work front and center, including a range of dynamic poses of the Cimmerian himself, as well as a striking image of Shamgar Shah lifting a prisoner -- mirroring Panel 3 of Page 14 from the graphic novel. With additional loose studies across the page, it offers a raw, revealing look into Buscema's process and the instinctive artistry that defined his legacy. Rendered in ink over graphite on Marvel Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 14.25". Slight toning, minor smudging, top left corner bend, and minor handling wear. In Excellent condition.
