Description

Mickey's Kangaroo Mickey Mouse, Hoppy, and Joey Animation Drawing Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1935). "Ain't he cute?" Mickey asks Pluto, looking at the little kangaroo that just hopped from his mother's pouch. This adorable trio of 12 field 2-peghole animation drawings can be found at about the 5:53 mark of the David Hand-directed short as Mickey delightedly tells Pluto they can each have a kangaroo to play with. The plot of this silly short centered around Mickey getting a kangaroo - which he names Hoppy - and joey in a package from Australia, much to Pluto's dismay. The dog ultimately gives in to the devil on his shoulder and tries to go after the joey, but it completely backfires. The drawings measure about 2.25'' x 2.75'' (Mickey), 2.75'' x 5.25'' (Hoppy), and 2'' x 2'' (Joey), rendered beautifully in graphite with color pencil. The pages are labeled 57, 221, and 234 in the lower right. The group are in Very Good condition with light age-related toning and minor edge and handling wear.
