Description
Casper the Friendly Ghost "How to Win Friends" Limited Edition Hand-Painted Cel #100/125 (Toon Art/Harvey, 1995). Presented in this lot is a hand-painted limited edition cel featuring the affable spectre schooling his graveyard pals in the finer points of "How to Win Friends." The image is based on an original sketch by Myron Waldman, recipient of both the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Award and the Winsor McCay Award for lifetime achievement in animation. Waldman began his career in 1930 at Fleischer Studios, contributing to classics such as Betty Boop, Popeye, Gulliver's Travels, Raggedy Ann, and the studio's animated Superman series. When Fleischer was reorganized as Famous Studios under Paramount, Waldman continued on and worked extensively on the Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoons. This cel, featuring Casper and three graveyard friends, is hand-inked and hand-painted, taped to a lithographic background for an overall image area of 13" x 10.5". The cel bears the Harvey Comics seal, and is individually numbered and signed by Waldman. In Excellent condition. Comes with the original matching-numbered COA.Auction Info
