Description

Beauty and the Beast Beast and Cape Animation Drawing Group of 8 (Walt Disney, 1991). Here are some wonderful original rough animation drawings of the Beast and his cape. The first drawings in traditional animation are called "roughs" or "rough animation" because they are often done in a very loose style. If the animation is successfully pencil tested and approved by the director, clean versions of the drawings have to be done. There are three drawings that depict the beast, with the other five depicting the Beast's cape fluttering in the wind. The drawings are rendered with red pencil and graphite on 16 field animation paper. Disney Legend Inductee Glen Keane was the Supervising Animator for the Beast. Keane joined Disney in 1974 and worked there until 2012. Production art from Beauty and the Beast is comparatively rare as the film was not produced using tradition animation cels. The drawings are in Good to Very condition, with some handling and edge wear, as well as minor toning and creasing. One of the drawings has paper damage on its edges, far away from the images.
