Description
"A Tribute to Termite Terrace - Gossamer" Hare-Raising Hare Signed Limited Edition Cel #151/200 (Warner Brothers, 1998). "PEOPLE!" The 1946 Chuck Jones-directed Merrie melodies short Hare-Raising Hare was the debut for this big furry lummox in sneakers. Despite only appearing two classic Warner Brothers shorts, this character has remained a fan favorite and has made several appearances in several later films throughout the '80s and '90s and most recently Big League Beast in 2020. Offered here is an original hand-painted limited edition cel of Gossamer created from original artwork by his creator, director Chuck Jones (1912 -2002). The 4.5" x 8.5" full-figure pose of the character was inspired by the scene where the monster discovers he's being watched by a terrifying audience of people at the 7:08 mark in the original 1946 short. It is on a 12 field vertical cel with Linda Jones seal in the lower left and Chuck Jones signature in the lower right. Only 200 pieces make up the edition and this one is hand numbered #151/200. It comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity in a sleeve on back of the frame. This cel has been sold out for over two decades. The art is in a 19" x 21" frame under Plexiglas with a mat opening of 9.5" x 12". Minor handling and condition is Fine. Frame is sold as-is.Auction Info
