Description

Al Jaffee Tall Tales Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 3-16-1959 (New York Herald-Tribune, 1959). One of the cartoonists in the renowned team of MAD-men who worked on the humor magazine for decades, Jaffee re-shaped the newspapers' comics quite literally with his Tall Tales -- a narrow vertical panel that was usually wordless, or with minimal dialogue. A humorous daily created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 2.75" x 10.25". Slight toning, discolored title and syndicate stat paste-ups and tape on the top and bottom edges, trimmed right side edge, whiteout corrections, with smudging and handling wear. Signed by Jaffee in the lower right image area and in Very Good condition.
