Description

Chester Gould Dick Tracy Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 12-31-47 (Chicago Tribune, 1947). It's a cold New Year's Eve in every sense, as Shoulders casually dumps his accomplice Joie's body into the icy river and strolls home to his doting family without a flicker of remorse. Dick Tracy closes out the year and ushers in 1948 in the final panel of this grim holiday strip, where Gould masterfully contrasts holiday warmth with the stark, hard-edged noir of his 1940s style. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 19.75" x 6". Toning, smudging, production oil staining, marginal pinholes, scraping effects, corner creasing, blue pencil editorial marks, and handling wear. In Very Good condition.
