Description

The Black Cauldron The Horned King plus Taran and Hen Wen Storyboards with Studio Publicity Photo Group (Walt Disney, 1985). Hen Wen, the pig with "oracular powers" is sought after by the dreaded Horned King, to help him find the most evil object in the land of Prydain, the Black Cauldron. Here are two original storyboards made during production of the film by Disney artist and story man David Jonas (1926 - 2014). The first is an awesome close-up of the Horned King, with his blood-red eyes and monstrous skeletal face. Art is in Conté crayon and red pencil. The other storyboard is of Taran and Hen Wen, as Hen Wen places her snout in a pan of water which will reveal an image of something to come; in this case, it would be the Black Cauldron. This piece is in graphite and color pencils; both storyboards are on paper measuring approximately 9" x 5" and mounted to stiff paper backers measuring 11.75" x 9". With the art is a 10" x 8" Disney Studio publicity photo with an image of the Horned King next to the actor who provided his voice, Sir John Hurt (1940 - 2017). Art condition is Very Good, with minor handling and tack holes.
