Description
Stan Lynde Rick O'Shay Sunday Comic Strip Autographed Original Art dated 8-14-66 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1966). Gunfighter Hipshot Percussion deals emphatically with a loudmouthed bully in this gem of slapstick comic timing. Here is a transitional, self-contained episode. Lynde had originated Rick O'Shay in 1958 as a pure-comedy Western spoof. By the middle 1960s, he had begun leaning toward a more nearly realistic approach as seen here -- eventually settling on a grimmer Frontier Gothic tone. Autographed in faded felt-marker ink (faintly visible in Panel 8). Ink and Zipatone shading over graphite on conjoined sheets of Bristol board. Image area, 27" x 12". Very Good condition, with adhesive stains around logotype. One tipped-in lettering correction (Panel 3). Light overall toning.Auction Info
